Hello Les,
I have been doing some family research on behalf of my brother-in-law, Ron Shannon, of Christchurch New Zealand.
Your Woollett family information has been immensely useful in outlining the family background of Ron's grandmother Margaret Ann Shannon, nee Woollett, wife of Adolphus Shannon.
It is with the Shannon family that I have a brick wall. Adolphus was reputedly born in Melbourne, Australia, but came to New Zealand with his mother and siblings as an infant. His father was Thomas Shannon and mother Elizabeth Watson (widow of William O'Connor).
I have the death, and therefore ancestry, information about Elizabeth Watson. But Thomas Shannon is a mystery. He and Elizabeth Watson had family in Melbourne before she and the children came to NZ in 1878 but I do not know what became of Thomas Shannon. Elizabeth's mother, Elizabeth Watson, nee Falconer/Faulkner was apparently already in NZ.
I have checked out the customary basic resources for Victoria and New Zealand and I am now clutching at straws, and wonder if your subsequent research night include anything from the Shannon byline that might throw any light on Thomas Shannon
