Notes

• No formal notification confirming his death was ever received by the family.  He was just reported as missing, presumed killed.
  He was in the Bedfordshire and Herts Regiment.  A Sergeant Don Payne who knew Albert visited the family and explained some of the circumstances of his death, it appeared that he may have been taken prisoner and then killed along with a large number of other men.
  His brother Edwin tells of "being shot in the back" spiritually speaking and being knocked to the ground at about the time that his brother was killed.  Edwin, who was in England, heard that his brother was missing presumed killed about two weeks later and believes that he was, as it were, hit by the same bullet.
