Notes
- I have just been searching the family tree site and noticed the entries for Woollett. My maternal grandfather was Walter Fancet Woollett (1884?- he lost his birth certificate and always reckoned the replacement was wrong- to 1973). He fought in the First World War eventually as a Lance- Corporal and was wounded on the Somme. His brother George Hales Woolett also fought there and lost a leg at some point though I do not know when. I am currently at the office and so do not have the details to hand but believe that I am right in thinking that his family came from Snodland in Kent before moving up to Staffs to find work at the end of the 19th Century. Walter married Mary Ellen Kirkland in about 1923. I would love to find out more about my grandfather's service record though I do believe he was also at Passchaendaele. He was in the King's Royal Rifle Corps.
Thank you for reading this. I hope to receive a response soon.
